Clothes Color & Personality Type

Whatever color we pick up to wear, in some way or other is indicative of our personality. Clothes color and personality type are two terms that tell a lot about each other. Color and clothes styling says a lot about your individuality. It is interesting to know about the philosophy of colors. You must have noticed reserved people often choose to attire in sober shades, which do not flash their personality. On the contrary bold men can be often seen wearing dark bright shades that highlight their presence in the crowd.

Impact of contamination on yarn and fabric quality

    y R.Senthil Kumar.
Contamination has vital role in deciding the quality of cotton apart from essential properties such as length, strength, fineness. Contamination of raw cotton can take place at every step i.e. from the farm picking to the ginning stage. Contamination, even if it is a single foreign fibre, can lead to the downgrading of yarn, fabric or garments or even the total rejection of an entire batch and can cause irreparable harm to the relationship between growers, ginners, merchants, spinner and textile and clothing mills. An International Textile Manufacturers Federation (ITMF) reported that claims due to contamination amounted to between 1.4 – 3.2% of total sales of 100% cotton and cotton blended yarns. The main aim of this paper is to give a perspective about the contaminants and its types, causes, effects, statistics of contaminants, preventive measures to eliminate contaminants and contamination cleaning methods.

The Fashion Business: Theory, Practice, Image

    Book Description:
It is commonly known that fashion is big business, yet given its global significance, little has been written on the phenomenon of the fashion system. Instead, books have tended to focus on dress history, although recently the discipline has taken a more theoretical turn, with a spate of books appearing that analyze the underlying forces motivating fashion. This pioneering book unites theory and practice to provide an integrated series of snapshots taken from different perspectives of the fashion business in the second half of the twentieth century.

Featuring contributions by leading experts in three main areas of important debate within the industry - the theory and culture of fashion; design and industry; and image and marketing - the book will be an essential reference for students, practitioners and theoreticians. It addresses such key issues as: the relationship between culture and clothing; the intersection of fashion and modernity; the origins of glamour; the role of creativity and the power of design; the chain store challenge; the age of the thinking designer; retail concepts; and minimalism in fashion. It is certain to be required reading on fashion courses and in related disciplines, including media, cultural and consumption studies.

    Linen Fabric Formation

by S. M. Qutab Textile Consultant.
Traditionally linen has been used in the production of either relatively simple woven fabrics such as sheeting, towel, camric, sheers, drills and ducks or highly complex fabrics such as damasks. Industrial use includes filter cloth and canvas.

Over the past few decades, the trend in weaving sector has been toward greater versatility and scope in design. This has been in tune with the greater use of linen in apparel market that is more fashion oriented than the traditional market. Flax yarns are available in a wide range of counts and characteristics, depending on the nature of flax used and processing arrangements employed. It is important that the weaver chooses the appropriate yarn for each specific fabric type.
